New MOOC on Arbitration of International Disputes open for enrolment

On 29 January 2018, the new “Arbitration of International Disputes” MOOC (massive open online course), taught by Prof. Eric De Brabandere and Dr. Giulia Pinzauti, will start on Coursera.

Prof. Eric De Brabandere and Dr. Giulia Pinzauti are proud to present the new “Arbitration of International Disputes” online course.  Throughout the four weeks of the course,  they will answer the following: “Can international arbitration contribute to the creation of a peaceful world through the settlement of disputes between States and between States and non-State actors?"

To answer this overarching question, the course will explore various aspects of international arbitration: its history, its role in settling disputes relating to the Law of the Sea, investment arbitration, state immunity, and the enforcement and validity of an award. The course particularly allows for an in-depth look into the functioning of the Permanent Court of Arbitration and of the International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes. It furthermore gives the participants essential knowledge on landmark cases such as the South China Sea Arbitration and the Yukos Award.

This course is the third MOOC in the Leiden University’s series “International Law in Action” and will start its first edition on Coursera on 29 January 2018. The enrolment period opens on 18 January 2018 for 10 days. To grasp this opportunity to broaden your knowledge by following this comprehensive and interactive course, you are invited to visit the course page where more information can be found. Participation in the course is free of charge.
